Let me continue my story while I enjoy some Highland Park 12 yr whisky...
29/03
Started off late today (which is fantastic...) at around 12:00. Jon made some awesome eggs and gave me some yogurt (or yoghurt, if you prefer). I got the walking tour of Bonn and saw a lot of sights, including tigers! There was a circus going on, hence the tigers. Jon showed me this bridge that Bonn paid for but the city it connects to on the other side of the River Rhine didn't help pay for at all, thus there are cannons on Bonn's side pointed at the other city. Nice :D We went to a 'bier garten' (really just a place to drink beer outside, and not really a beer garden...) and had a nice beer and chatted for awhile. We waited for awhile for the check, and eventually had to ask the waiter for it...I guess it is quite common for the wait staff to not give you the check unless you ask for it. It was good beer and a wonderful day. I am not sure if you who read this know, but I bring good weather. It, to my knowledge, had been pretty crappy in Bonn until I got there :D What can I say...I do what I can. ;) We stopped at a bakery in town and got these fabulous strawberry pastries which were so delicious, I can't even say. After devouring them, we went inside a Catholic Church in the city centre and looked around. I wanted to get a SIM card to call Justine and my family so we stopped at O2 and Jon translated for me. He did quite well! When we got outside we sat at a table and were putting the card in my phone when a waiter came up and said something in German and Jon replied...when the waiter left, Jon was like...I just told him we're not sitting here. Nice! :D Can't win 'em all...I am glad I am in a country studying where they speak (for the most part) English. We took the S-bahn and buses around Bonn during the day and I did so illegally...BAMF. Later for dinner, we met some of Jon's friends to eat dinner. The first place we were going to go to, Bonnch, was too busy so we went to another place and Jon bought my dinner as a birthday gift. Jon also ordered my food and drink for me, as I had no idea what was going on. I had schnitzel and it was very good. After dinner (and much indecisiveness and interupting stories) we went back to Jon's residence and to his friend Ian's room to watch Predator and have a beer. It was great stuff. Especially watching a bird get punted. After a late night, we hit the hay and rested up for a new day tomorrow.

It warms my heart to read that you remembered all the most important parts of your visit....like Bonn's rivalry with Beuel (cannons...) the bird being punted in Predator, and me being owned by the German language outside of a restaurant in Germany. You did forget to mention the flaming juggling and the dude playing amazing grace on the bagpipes.....
